James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash continued its powerful run at the box office, leading both China and South Korea during the December 26–28 weekend.
In China, the sci-fi epic added RMB 166.4 million (around $23.4 million) over the weekend, pushing its total earnings to RMB 700 million ($98.6 million). The film comfortably topped the charts as one of the strongest performers heading into the final weekend of 2025.
Disney’s animated hit Zootopia 2 held on to second place, earning $15.2 million in its fifth weekend. Its China total has now reached an impressive $558.3 million, making it one of the year’s biggest releases in the market.

New entry The Fire Raven debuted in third place with $2.8 million. The crime thriller, directed by Sam Quah, follows a cold-case murder that exposes layers of corruption and revenge.
Romantic drama Love Is Hard ranked fourth with $2.1 million, taking its total to $4 million. The film explores a troubled marriage tested by mistrust and misunderstandings, blending drama with light comedy.
Rounding out the top five was Escape From the Outland, which earned $1.7 million for a cumulative $2.7 million.
Overall, China’s box office generated $48.6 million for the weekend, with the 2025 year-to-date total standing at $7.26 billion—up more than 23% compared to the same period last year.
In South Korea, Avatar: Fire and Ash also stayed on top, earning $8.6 million from over one million admissions. Its local total has now climbed to $32.5 million, confirming its strong audience pull.

Zootopia 2 remained solid in second place, adding $3 million and lifting its cumulative earnings to $50.3 million. The film has crossed 7.4 million admissions, ranking among 2025’s most successful imported animated titles.
The South Korean romantic drama Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight opened in third place with $1.2 million. Based on a popular novel, the film tells a bittersweet high-school love story involving a girl whose memory resets every morning.

Japanese animated feature Crayon Shinchan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers followed in fourth, while local family release Pororo the Movie: Sweet Castle Adventure completed the top five.
With strong performances across major releases, both China and Korea ended 2025 on a positive note, highlighting the continued strength of Asian box office markets.
