9 Best Halloween Horror Movies on Netflix to Watch in 2026
Halloween is on October 31, 2026, and Netflix has plenty of horror options for viewers looking for something scary, strange or simply entertaining. From supernatural thrillers and creature features to dark horror-comedies and found-footage films, the lineup covers several different styles of horror.
If you are planning a Halloween movie night, here are nine horror movies on Netflix worth adding to your watchlist.
1. The Trip
Tommy Wirkola's 2021 Norwegian horror-comedy follows a married couple whose relationship has reached a breaking point.
Lisa, played by Noomi Rapace, is an underemployed actor, while her husband Lars, played by Aksel Hennie, works as a soap opera director. The two decide to spend a weekend together at a remote vacation home, supposedly to reconnect and work on their marriage.
But neither of them is being completely honest.
Both Lisa and Lars secretly intend to kill the other. Their already dangerous plan becomes even more complicated when Lars notices strange things around the property and learns that fugitives are nearby.
The film mixes violent horror with dark comedy, making it a particularly unusual Halloween choice.
2. The Conference
A team-building retreat is already enough to make most people uncomfortable. In The Conference, things become considerably worse when a mysterious killer begins targeting the employees.
This 2023 Swedish horror film, directed by Patrik Eklund, turns an ordinary workplace retreat into a bloody survival story.
Instead of the usual group of teenagers trapped in a remote location, the movie follows a collection of exhausted bureaucrats who find themselves fighting for survival.
The cast includes Katia Winter, Adam Lundgren and Eva Melander, while the story combines workplace satire with slasher-style horror.
3. Fear Street Part 1: 1994
If you want a classic supernatural slasher atmosphere for Halloween, Fear Street Part 1: 1994 is an easy pick.
The first movie in the 2021 Fear Street trilogy, directed and co-written by Leigh Janiak, is set in the fictional town of Shadyside.
A group of teenagers, led by Kiana Madeira's character, begin investigating a series of brutal deaths. They eventually suspect that the town is suffering from a centuries-old witch's curse.
The movie mixes teen horror, supernatural elements and serial-killer action. The story continues through two additional films, Fear Street Part 2: 1978 and Fear Street Part 3: 1666, which explore different periods of Shadyside's history.
4. I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House
For viewers who prefer slow-burning supernatural horror over constant violence, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House offers a much quieter experience.
The 2016 Canadian supernatural horror film follows Lily, played by Ruth Wilson, a hospice nurse who moves into a secluded house in Massachusetts.
She has been hired to care for Iris, a retired horror writer played by Paula Prentiss.
The house initially seems simply old and unsettling, but Lily gradually notices details that make her question what is really happening there. Strange things around the property begin to feel less harmless, and Lily starts to wonder whether the house itself is keeping her there.
The film was directed by Osgood Perkins, who later directed Longlegs.
5. Thrash
For something much more chaotic, Thrash combines extreme weather with a shark survival story.
The 2026 film follows a South Carolina coastal town hit by a catastrophic hurricane. The storm is only the beginning, however, as bull sharks begin moving through the flooded streets.
Residents who are already struggling to survive the hurricane now have another threat to deal with.
The cast includes Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak and Djimon Hounsou. The film also comes from Tommy Wirkola, the director of The Trip.
If your idea of Halloween horror includes storms, sharks and a large-scale survival situation, this one fits the mood.
6. Creep
Creep takes a much more personal approach to horror.
The 2014 found-footage movie follows Aaron, a videographer played by director Patrick Brice, who accepts an unusual job because he needs money.
His client, Josef, played by Mark Duplass, claims that he is dying from brain cancer and wants Aaron to record a video diary for his unborn child.
However, Josef's behavior quickly becomes disturbing.
He introduces Aaron to a strange mask called Peachfuzz and begins revealing increasingly disturbing information about himself. What initially looks like an unusual filming assignment gradually becomes a frightening situation from which Aaron struggles to escape.
7. Creep 2
If you enjoy the first Creep, the story continues with Creep 2.
In the 2017 sequel, Duplass returns as the disturbing character, who now uses the name Aaron. This time, he approaches Sara, a YouTuber played by Desiree Akhavan, and invites her to a remote cabin.
Aaron is more open about his identity this time around. He tells Sara that he is a serial killer and proposes a strange deal: he will not kill her if she spends the next 24 hours making a documentary about his life.
Sara initially sees the situation as an opportunity to grow her online audience. But the longer she spends with Aaron, the more dangerous the arrangement becomes.
8. In the Tall Grass
Based on the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill, In the Tall Grass turns an ordinary roadside field into something far more terrifying.
Siblings Becky and Cal are driving through rural Kansas when they hear a boy calling for help from a field of tall grass.
They enter the field to help him, but quickly lose sight of both the road and each other.
Inside, they encounter other people, including the boy Tobin and his parents. What initially seems like a simple rescue attempt turns into a supernatural struggle as the characters realize that escaping the field may come with a terrible cost.
The 2019 horror film was directed by Vincenzo Natali, known for Cube.
9. The Ritual
The Ritual is a strong choice for anyone looking for creature horror mixed with a survival story.
The 2017 film follows four friends who travel to the forests of Sweden six months after the tragic death of one of their friends.
Their hiking trip takes a frightening turn when one of them is injured. The group decides to leave the marked trail and take a different route through the forest.
That decision leads them to strange symbols and an isolated cabin.
After spending the night there, the friends wake up to discover disturbing injuries and increasingly strange behavior among the group. As they venture deeper into the forest, they begin to realize that something far more dangerous may be watching them.
The movie stars Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali, Robert James-Collier and Sam Troughton and is based on Adam Nevill's novel.
