Just hours before the start of the 2024 NFL season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott agreed to a record-breaking four-year, $240 million contract extension. This deal makes Prescott the highest-paid player in NFL history, with an average annual salary of $60 million.

Last season, Prescott finished second in MVP voting after leading the league's top-scoring offense with 36 touchdown passes.
Despite the lack of playoff success so far, the Cowboys have now secured two of their star players long-term, having previously extended wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. The focus now shifts to locking up pass-rusher Micah Parsons with a lucrative contract of his own.
As Prescott prepares for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns, he acknowledged the challenge ahead: "You've got to appreciate it, honestly. You have to embrace the challenge. Right now, it's about uniting as a team... not necessarily putting pressure on ourselves but recognizing that this team will not look the same after this. That's just the nature of the business. It's now or never.
