Hannah impressed viewers from the very beginning of the finale. She performed a remix of “No One” alongside guest mentor Alicia Keys and dedicated the performance to her husband, Devon Mendenhall.
She later performed her emotional coronation song, “At the Cross (Love Ran Red)” by Chris Tomlin. Hannah also sang her original tracks “String Cheese” and “Married Into This Town,” with the latter reportedly bringing Alicia Keys to tears.
The finale also included a special duet performance with country music star Lee Ann Womack.
According to TV Insider, Hannah had already become a fan favorite before the final results were announced, with audience polls showing strong support for her throughout the episode.
As the winner of American Idol Season 24, Hannah Harper received a prize package worth USD 250,000 along with a record deal and the opportunity to release her debut album.
However, according to comments previously shared by Season 16 winner Maddie Poppe with Business Insider, the full amount is not received immediately because taxes and record deal terms apply.
Maddie explained that winners usually receive half the money before completing their record and the remaining amount after the album is finished.
Beyond the stage, Hannah Harper is a 23-year-old mother of three from Missouri. She is married to Devon Mendenhall and became widely known after her viral audition performance of her original song “String Cheese.”
The song was inspired by her experience with postpartum depression and quickly connected with viewers across the country.
Hannah grew up singing gospel music with her family’s bluegrass group, The Harper Family, later known as The Harper Collective. She started performing with the group at the age of nine while traveling across different places in a tour bus.
According to TV Insider, Hannah was raised in a very conservative household with limited access to mainstream music, which later pushed her toward country music.
Today, she is being celebrated as the newest American Idol champion and one of the breakout country music stars of 2026.
