Actor Explains Alamo’s Hatred Toward Women

According to TV Insider, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje explained that this childhood betrayal became the reason Alamo struggles to trust women.

The actor said Alamo has a “real aversion to women,” which explains why Zendaya’s character Rue is one of the only women he allows to work for him.

He also explained that Alamo’s tension with Laurie, played by Martha Kelly, comes from jealousy and betrayal after helping her rise in the criminal world.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Praises the Character’s Complexity

Adewale said one of the biggest reasons he accepted the role was the chance to explore a villain with emotional depth.

Instead of seeing Alamo as simply evil, the actor viewed him as a man shaped by painful experiences and difficult circumstances.

He explained that the character contains “layers, texture, and nuance,” making him more complex than a typical TV villain.
