Marvel Studios has released new footage from Avengers: Doomsday, confirming Chris Hemsworth is officially back as Thor.
The short clip avoids action-heavy moments. Instead, it shows Thor living in a small cabin in the woods. He is seen caring for his young daughter and praying for strength. His words suggest he wants to fight one last battle before walking away from war for good.

The film is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026.
Earlier footage from Doomsday focused on Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. That preview showed him holding a baby and looking at his old Captain America uniform, confirming his return to the Avengers storyline.

One of the biggest surprises in the film is Robert Downey Jr. playing the villain Doctor Doom. This marks a major shift for the actor, who previously portrayed Iron Man until the character’s death in Avengers: Endgame.
The Thor clip also includes a brief moment with Love, his adopted daughter. The character was introduced in Thor: Love and Thunder and is played by Hemsworth’s real-life daughter, India. Thor is shown kissing her forehead before leaving, hinting at the personal cost of the mission ahead.

Avengers: Doomsday features a massive ensemble cast including Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, and several stars from Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and the X-Men universe.
With familiar heroes returning and a new threat rising, Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most emotional Avengers films yet.
