Paris Olympics: The competition between Liu Yang and Zou Jingyuan was incredibly close. Both gymnasts entered the final with equal difficulty scores of 6.400, making the execution scores the deciding factor. Liu Yang's slightly higher execution score of 8.900 compared to Zou Jingyuan's 8.833 secured his victory.
Eleftherios Petrounias added another medal to his impressive Olympic career by winning the bronze. His higher difficulty score of 6.300 compared to Samir Aït Saïd's 6.100 gave him a slight advantage, allowing for minor execution errors. Petrounias' final score of 15.100 was just enough to edge out the competition for the bronze medal.
Despite the success of the United States women in the gymnastics competitions in Paris, no American gymnasts qualified for the men's rings final.
