The first season of 9-1-1: Nashville ended with a literal bang, an all-out physical brawl between Blythe (Jessica Capshaw) and Dixie (LeAnn Rimes). While fans are reeling from the "Battle of the Blondes," showrunner Rashad Raisani says this is only the beginning of a messy road ahead in Season 2.

The finale saw tensions boil over after Dixie revealed text messages from Blythe’s husband, Don (Chris O’Donnell), proving he was tempted to cheat. With Blythe also buying out Dixie's record contract to silence her, the stage was set for a confrontation that the show cut off right at the "moment of explosion."

Raisani confirms that while the fight was shot to be much longer, the decision to end on a cliffhanger was intentional. When Season 2 returns to ABC, there will be a small time jump, but the premiere will quickly address the fallout.

"We may make the audience wonder a little bit for a while about exactly what happened and how injured everybody was," Raisani teased. Interestingly, he suggests that despite the current hatred, the two women might actually move toward a "frenemy" bond in the future as they realize the damage they’ve caused themselves.
The drama isn't just about the fight; it’s about the betrayal. Even though Don decided to return home to his wife at the last second, the fact that he was "on his way" to Dixie will haunt their marriage. Raisani notes that Don and Blythe have a "veneer of stability" that is actually much shakier than it looks, and Season 2 will explore if their relationship can survive this breach of trust.

The finale also left Sam (MacKenzie Porter) and Ryan (Michael Provost) in a heartbreaking position following the discovery of a mass on Sam’s ovary. Facing a potential hysterectomy, Sam has decided against surgeries that would prevent her from having children. Raisani confirms that Ryan is standing by her choice, but the road ahead will be "tough" as they face the medical reality of her diagnosis.
