Aubrey Plaza is known for her deadpan delivery, but her latest request on Late Night With Seth Meyers took things to a whole new level of awkward hilarity. The actress, who is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend and Black Bear costar Christopher Abbott, stopped by the show this Tuesday to promote her animated series Kevin—and to potentially secure a backup doctor.

“I’m gonna need you to pull it out,” Plaza told a visibly startled Meyers. “That’s why I came here tonight.”
When Meyers politely declined the mid-interview medical procedure, Plaza revealed he wasn't her only choice. “It’s either you or Henry Winkler,” she deadpanned, noting that she is due this fall. “Those are my top two.”

The logic behind the "Fonz" being a frontrunner is rooted in sitcom history. Fans of Parks and Recreation will remember that Winkler’s character, Dr. Lu Saperstein, delivered April Ludgate’s baby in the 2015 series finale. Since he’s already "done it" once on screen, Plaza seems to think the Happy Days legend is qualified for the real thing.
Tuesday's late-night guests include Aubrey Plaza, Noah Wyle, Neil deGrasse Tyson, John Kerry, Nikki Glaser, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jon Favreau, James Taylor, Gaten Matarazzo, and Dan Bucatinsky -- see who's appearing where: https://t.co/GgHwdBQ0Y3 pic.twitter.com/gX2rHZw1kn

While Meyers might seem like an odd choice for a delivery room, he actually has more experience than the average talk show host. Back in 2018, his wife Alexi Ashe went into labor so quickly they didn't even make it to the Uber. Meyers famously recounted how they ended up delivering their second son, Axel, right on the floor of their apartment building's lobby.

“I called 9-1-1 and over the course of a minute conversation, I basically said, ‘We’re about to have a baby. We’re having a baby. We had a baby,’” Meyers joked, reminiscing about the chaotic morning.
Despite the jokes about lobby births and sitcom doctors, Plaza expressed genuine excitement about her journey into motherhood. During a recent appearance on the SmartLess podcast, she told hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett that she’s looking forward to the experience. “I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about,” she shared. “It just seems so interesting, that whole thing.”
Whether she sticks with a hospital or holds out for a cameo from Henry Winkler, Plaza is clearly approaching pregnancy with her signature brand of eccentric charm.
