Billy Joel Halts All Tour Dates After Brain Condition Diagnosis

Billy Joel Cancels Tour After Serious Health Diagnosis

Legendary singer Billy Joel has canceled all concerts scheduled through July 2026 after being diagnosed with a condition called normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). Billy Joel, who is 76 years old, is now taking time to rest and focus on getting better.

What Is Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH)?

Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) happens when too much fluid collects in the brain, causing pressure that can affect how the brain works. It mainly affects older adults and can lead to trouble with walking, thinking clearly, keeping balance, and controlling the bladder.

Billy Joel said his symptoms got worse after recent performances, making it harder for him to see, hear, and stay balanced on stage. Thankfully, NPH is sometimes reversible with early treatment—often involving surgery.

Concerts Canceled Through July 2026

All U.S. and U.K. tour dates between April 2025 and July 2026 have been officially canceled. Fans who bought tickets don’t need to do anything—refunds will be processed automatically to the original payment method.

Joel’s Message to His Fans

Billy Joel thanked his fans for their support and said he was sorry to cancel the shows.

Recent Stage Fall Raised Concerns

In February 2025, Joel had a fall on stage during a concert but managed to finish the performance. A month later, he postponed several shows after undergoing surgery. While it’s not confirmed, these events may have been linked to his NPH condition.

Billy Joel remains hopeful about recovery and is focusing on his health with the support of his medical team and loved ones.
