Bronwyn Newport Shares Heartbreaking News of Father’s Sudden Passing After Fall

Reality star Bronwyn Newport is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her beloved father, David Richard Newport, who passed away on June 13 following a sudden fall and swift health decline. He was previously diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and had been living in a memory care facility.

A Sudden Loss After a Long Illness

In a heartfelt Instagram Story, the 39-year-old Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star shared the sad news with fans. Over a black-and-white photo of her father, she wrote:
"Earlier today we lost my wonderful father, David Richard Newport."

Bronwyn revealed that her father fell on Tuesday, June 10, and deteriorated quickly. “Yesterday, we were told he most likely only had a few days,” she shared. “It has been a huge shock to lose someone seemingly so suddenly, and yet we've been caretaking through such a long illness.”

Grateful for a Final Goodbye

Despite the shock, Bronwyn expressed gratitude for being able to be by her father's side during his final moments.
"I am so grateful to have been able to be by his bedside all week and in his final moments," she wrote. She also thanked the family members who gathered in his last days, saying it brought comfort to everyone involved.

Her mother, who encouraged Bronwyn to share the news, wanted loved ones and fans to “think fondly of him at this time.”

A Difficult Year of Loss and Caregiving

This loss comes just months after Bronwyn’s 9-year-old dog, Claire, passed away in February, compounding an already emotional period for the reality star.

In December 2024, Bronwyn spoke publicly about her father's declining health after another fall. During an Easter family visit in April, she noted things “just didn’t go well” as his symptoms worsened.
"My dad has been doing so great in memory care, but this week he hasn’t been himself," she had shared.

Adding to the emotional toll, Bronwyn also supported her mother through a serious medical emergency last Christmas. Her mom underwent emergency brain surgery for a tumor—almost 30 years after a similar diagnosis. Bronwyn spent Christmas Eve in the ICU and returned home to be with her father and his caregiver.
"I was raised by the best," she said of her mother. “My mom has always been the ultimate example of compassion and service to others.”

Remembering David Richard Newport

David is survived by his devoted wife, Bronwyn’s mother, who is continuing her own health journey. The Newport family is now taking time to process this profound loss privately.
