Iqra Choudhary was born on August 26, 1994, into a Muslim Gujjar family in Kairana, India. Iqra completed her schooling at Queen Mary School in New Delhi. Iqra pursued higher education at Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Later, she obtained an MSc in International Politics & Law from SOAS University of London in 2020.

Iqra Choudhary comes from a prominent political family. Her grandfather, Akhtar Hasan, her father, Chaudhary Munawwar Hasan, and her mother, Begum Tabassum Hasan, have all served as Members of Parliament. Her brother, Chaudhary Nahid Hasan, is currently serving his third term as the Member of Legislative Assembly from the Kairana Assembly constituency.
Iqra Choudhary began her political journey in 2016 by contesting in the Zila Panchayat elections, where she narrowly lost by 5000 votes.
