Sabrina Carpenter Drops New Song ‘Manchild’

Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has released a new single titled “Manchild,” and fans are already calling it a strong contender for Song of the Summer 2025.

The track was co-written with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen during what Sabrina calls “the best random Tuesday” of her life. The upbeat anthem blends humor and honesty as it calls out emotionally immature men with lyrics like:
“Manchild, why you always come a-runnin’ to me? … Half your brain just ain’t there.”

A Soundtrack for Young Adulthood

In an Instagram post, Carpenter described “Manchild” as a fun reflection of her confusing but exciting young adult years. She called the track “the song embodiment of a loving eye roll” and “a never-ending summer road trip.” Her goal? For fans to blast it with the windows down and sing at the top of their lungs all summer long.

Sassy Lyrics, Summer Vibes

The song’s synth-heavy intro gives off ’80s vibes, followed by playful yet pointed lyrics:
“Oh, I like my boys playin’ hard to get / And I like my men all incompetent.”

With this track, Sabrina continues the confident storytelling style she showcased in hits like “Espresso” and “Please, Please, Please.”

Music Video Coming Soon

Though the music video won’t premiere until Friday morning (10 a.m. ET), fans got a sneak peek of Carpenter hitchhiking in the desert wearing short shorts and heels — fitting the song’s bold and playful tone.

Album Rumors & Live Debut

While there’s no official confirmation about a new album, fans believe “Manchild” could be the lead single for her upcoming seventh studio project. Sabrina is also expected to perform the song live at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona.
