The 28-year-old Euphoria star portrays legendary boxer Christy Martin in the biographical drama, which tells the powerful story of Martin’s rise in boxing and her harrowing near-fatal attack by her husband.
During the driver introductions before the race, Sweeney delivered an inspiring speech to the four finalists — Chase Briscoe, William Byron, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Larson — connecting the determination of her character to the spirit of NASCAR competitors.
“Most days, this checkered flag means victory, but today, it means something more — a dream realized, a life changed, a name that will never be forgotten,” Sweeney said.
“In my new film Christy, I play a warrior. A fighter who refuses to quit. Christy is about grit, about determination — the same spirit that it takes to make it to the Championship Four.”

Sweeney looked every bit the part of a racing champion herself, wearing a racing jacket, shorts, and red boots, joining the sold-out crowd in style.

In recent interviews, Sweeney revealed she gained 35 pounds for the physically demanding role, consuming “so many protein shakes” and Uncrustables to embody the boxer’s strength.

“It was a huge undertaking,” Sweeney shared on Sirius XM on October 29. “The emotional toll of the span of Christy’s lifetime — there’s a lot of growth, pain, and understanding. The physical change that I undertook was a lot, too.”
After wrapping the film, Sweeney posted an emotional message on Instagram, calling Christy “one of the most emotional, transformative experiences” of her life.
“Christy’s journey is deeply inspiring. Having her on set, cheering us on, made me emotional. Knowing what she’s endured made me want to cry,” Sweeney wrote.
The actress added that the story goes beyond boxing — it’s about resilience, survival, and the strength to keep fighting.
“This story deserves to be told. You’ll see me kick some serious butt, but most importantly, you’ll witness a story as powerful as the woman who lived it,” she added.
Known for her love of sports, Sweeney recently attended Game 4 of the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, proudly sporting a Dodgers jersey.
With her striking NASCAR appearance and the buzz surrounding Christy, Sydney Sweeney continues to prove she’s more than just a Hollywood star — she’s a storyteller with passion, power, and heart.
