‘I believe’ post by Jake Bongiovi melts hearts at the finale screening

Jake Bongiovi made a quiet but meaningful gesture for his wife, Millie Bobby Brown, during a special moment in her career. The 23-year-old showed up in spirit for Brown as she attended a theater screening of the Stranger Things series finale.

On Friday, January 2, Bongiovi shared an Instagram Story featuring Brown standing excitedly in front of a sign announcing the 6 p.m. screening. Over the photo, he wrote just two words: “I believe!!” — a line that longtime fans immediately recognized.

The phrase directly connects to a pivotal moment involving Brown’s character, Eleven, in the final episode of Stranger Things.

What does “I believe” mean in the Stranger Things finale?

The finale jumps ahead 18 months after Eleven’s apparent disappearance, following the destruction of the Upside Down. The story circles back to familiar ground as Mike reunites with Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max in his basement for a game of Dungeons & Dragons.

During the game, Mike shares a story suggesting that Eight, also known as Kali, secretly saved Eleven. According to his tale, the two created a plan to make the world believe Eleven had died, tricking the military forces hunting her. What everyone saw, Mike explains, was only an illusion — a spell cast from afar.

He imagines Eleven escaping to a quiet, distant place where she could finally live in peace, somewhere no one knows who she is.

When the group asks if the story is true, Mike admits they don’t know for sure. Still, he chooses to believe it is. One by one, the others agree. They believe too.

The final scene cuts to Eleven walking alone near a mountain and three waterfalls, suggesting she may have found the peace Mike described — or at least leaving viewers with the hope that she did.

The creators leave the ending open

According to Netflix’s Tudum, creators Matt and Ross Duffer intentionally left Eleven’s fate open-ended. Rather than confirming what truly happened, they wanted viewers to decide for themselves whether she survived and found happiness.

That emotional ambiguity is what made Jake Bongiovi’s simple message resonate so strongly. His “I believe” wasn’t just a nod to the show — it felt like personal support for Brown at the end of a defining chapter in her career.

Sometimes, a few words say everything.
