Netflix’s New Turkish Drama Explores Love, Debt, and Destiny

Netflix has officially revealed its Turkish content lineup for 2026, and one of the most talked-about releases is the new drama series To Love, To Lose (Ayrılık da Sevdaya Dahil). Created by legendary filmmaker Yavuz Turgul, the show brings together romance, emotional conflict, and real-life struggles in a deeply engaging way.

Netflix To Love To Lose Turkish Series Story Overview

The series is best described as a bittersweet, soapy drama that brings two very different worlds face to face.

Afife is a talented screenwriter whose dreams are put on hold when she is forced to run her family’s small restaurant. Her life takes a sudden turn when she learns that her mother has taken a huge loan from a powerful loan-shark family — a debt they have no way of repaying.

Kemal, the quiet yet intimidating heir of that family, is sent to collect the money. What begins as a tense confrontation slowly changes when both Afife and Kemal realize they share a hidden connection from the past. Afife once taught screenwriting to prison inmates — and Kemal was one of her students.

This unexpected bond softens their hostility and pulls them into an emotional journey where love, honor, and morality are tested. The series shows that relationships are rarely simple and that love often comes with difficult choices.

Cast and Crew

The show features a powerful cast led by some of Turkey’s most popular actors:

  • İbrahim Çelikkol as Kemal

  • Emine Meyrem as Afife

  • Yasemin Kay Allen as Neslihan

Supporting roles are played by Görkem Sevindik, Menderes Samancılar, Deniz Türkali, and Tarık Papuççuoğlu.

The series is created by Yavuz Turgul and directed by Selim Demirdelen and Kurtcebe Turgul, with production handled by TMC Film (Erol Avcı).

What Makes the Series Different

To Love, To Lose consists of 8 episodes, each running around 45–50 minutes. Unlike typical fairytale romances, the series focuses on realistic adult relationships. It highlights the idea that love does not magically fix everything — sometimes it demands sacrifice, understanding, and painful decisions.

With its strong performances, emotional storytelling, and grounded approach to romance, To Love, To Lose is already being seen as one of Netflix’s most mature and impactful Turkish dramas of 2026.
