When The Testament of Ann Lee premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 1, Amanda Seyfried earned a 15-minute standing ovation. Critics praised her striking transformation and emotional depth in the role.

The movie reunites director Mona Fastvold with Brady Corbet, her creative partner from The Brutalist. That film went on to earn 10 Academy Award nominations and win three Oscars, including Best Actor for Adrien Brody.
The new drama also stars Lewis Pullman, Thomasin McKenzie, Stacy Martin, Christopher Abbott, and Tim Blake Nelson, rounding out an impressive ensemble.
The Testament of Ann Lee is set for a limited theatrical release on December 25, 2025. With early praise pouring in, the film is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases of the year — and a major moment in Amanda Seyfried’s career.
