Survivor Season 48 has a new Sole Survivor! Kyle Fraser, a 31-year-old attorney from Brooklyn, New York, won the $1 million prize after a thrilling finale that aired on CBS on May 21, 2025.
The season ended with a final jury vote that crowned Kyle as the winner with five votes, beating fellow finalists Eva Erickson and Joe Hunter.
The top three finalists were:
Kyle Fraser – 5 votes
Eva Erickson – 2 votes
Joe Hunter – 1 vote
Eva, a 24-year-old PhD student from Rhode Island, and Joe, a 45-year-old fire captain from California, both gave strong performances but couldn’t beat Kyle’s strategic game.
The finale started with five players: Kyle, Eva, Joe, Mitch Guerra, and Kamilla Karthigesu.
Kamilla won the first immunity challenge but was eliminated after losing the fire-making challenge to Eva.
Mitch was voted out in fifth place and joined the jury.
Kyle won the final immunity and picked Joe to sit next to him in the final three, sending Eva and Kamilla to battle it out in fire-making.
Kyle played a smart and secretive game. He didn’t reveal his job as a lawyer until the final tribal council. He also shared that he had a hidden alliance with Kamilla, which helped him pull off major blindsides—especially taking out Shauhin, a strong competitor.
Eva’s Social Strength and Joe’s Loyalty
Eva earned respect for her resilience and strong social game. She was open about her neurodiversity, which inspired both players and viewers.
Joe played a loyal, honest game. He built trust with many players but didn’t make enough bold moves to win the million-dollar prize.
The jury was made up of eight former contestants: Cedrek, Chrissy, David, Star, Mary, Shauhin, Mitch, and Kamilla. Each finalist earned at least one vote, but Kyle’s clever gameplay won him the majority.
