According to Barb, the UK's official audience research group, Netflix's reimagining of Roald Dahl's "Matilda The Musical" premiered on June 25 and was watched by 2.6 million people on TV sets. This marked Netflix's entry into Barb's weekly list of the top 50 titles in the UK for the first time in nearly four months. Prior to "Matilda," the last Netflix entry on the list was "Luther: The Fallen Sun," which had 3 million viewers in March.
"Matilda" now ranks as Netflix's seventh most-watched movie since Barb began reporting viewing figures for streamers in November 2021. Another Netflix production, "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," spent two weeks in Barb's list of the top 50 shows and films in the UK, accumulating a total of 18.5 million viewers during that time.
It's worth noting that the figures provided by Barb only include viewership on television sets, and viewing on mobile devices is not accounted for in these numbers. In the week that "Matilda" registered in the top 50, the most-watched show on British television was Elton John's performance at Glastonbury, which attracted 8.3 million viewers.
