The second season of Nine Perfect Strangers premiered on May 21, 2025, on Hulu. This time, the wellness retreat is set in the beautiful but mysterious Austrian Alps. Nicole Kidman is back as Masha, the spiritual guru with a complicated past.
She now runs a new retreat called Zauberwald in Germany. Known for using psychedelic therapy, Masha is more controversial than ever and compared by many to Elizabeth Holmes for her radical ideas.

Season 2 introduces a fresh set of nine guests, each dealing with their own issues:
Brian, a shy puppeteer with social anxiety
Agnes, a former nun
Tina, a piano prodigy
Wolfie, Tina’s girlfriend
Two sets of parents and children facing emotional and family problems
Unlike season 1, the guests aren’t asked to hand over their phones — there’s no cell service in the area. They come seeking healing, but Masha delays the start of the retreat, creating tension and uncertainty.

Reviews for the new season are mixed, leaning negative. Critics feel it doesn’t match the depth and charm of season 1.
Many say the show focuses too much on Masha’s backstory, making her less mysterious. With so many characters, the short episode count leaves little time for deeper development.
Though the overall story has its weaknesses, performances by Christine Baranski, Annie Murphy, and Dolly de Leon are being praised. These actors bring heart and intensity to their roles.
Still, the rushed pacing and underdeveloped subplots leave some viewers disappointed.
