A powerful new drama is coming to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. What It Feels Like for a Girl premieres on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 9 p.m. BST. The eight-episode series is based on the real-life memoir of British writer and activist Paris Lees — and she adapted the series herself.

The show follows Byron, a teenager growing up in a tough ex-mining town in the early 2000s. Feeling out of place, Byron escapes to Nottingham’s wild nightlife to find their true self. The series explores themes of gender identity, chosen family, and the freedom to live as who you really are.
