Following the backlash, Bryan deactivated his X account and later apologized via Instagram, attributing his comments to being drunk and clarifying that he did not intend to disrespect Swift. He stated, “For the record, I wasn't targeting Taylor... I genuinely appreciate Taylor's music” and emphasized that he was merely comparing two albums in a tipsy state.

He acknowledged the sensitivity surrounding Kanye West due to his controversial past and expressed regret for how his tweet came off, saying it was disrespectful and insensitive. Bryan concluded his apology with a reminder: "Don't drink and tweet!"
