Love Island fans were ready to tune in this week, but plans changed at the last moment. Love Island: All Stars Season 3, which was due to launch on January 12 in the UK and January 14 in the US, has now been paused with no return date confirmed.
The reason is serious. Wildfires broke out near Franschhoek in South Africa, the exact area where the All Stars villa is located. On January 10, ITV confirmed the production team had to evacuate the villa to protect everyone working on the show. No one was hurt, but filming simply could not continue.
Unlike most reality shows, Love Island is filmed almost in real time. Episodes are shot just days before they air so viewers can vote and influence what happens in the villa. Because of that, ITV cannot start broadcasting anything until the crew is back on location and cameras are rolling again.
So for now, the series is officially on hold.
Once production restarts, UK viewers will be able to watch the show on ITV2 and ITVX. In the US, Peacock will carry the episodes, usually a couple of days after they air in Britain. Maya Jama is still set to host, with Iain Stirling returning as the voice of the show.
Before everything was paused, ITV had already revealed the first group of Islanders. The women included Whitney Adebayo, Millie Court, Jess Harding, Belle Hassan, Leanne Amaning and Helena Ford. On the men’s side were Ciaran Davies, Shaq Muhammad, Sean Stone, Jack Keating, Tommy Bradley and Charlie Frederick.
It was shaping up to be one of the strongest All Stars lineups yet, mixing winners, fan favourites and Islanders who only left the main series a few months ago.
Right now, the villa doors are shut and the cameras are off. But once the fires are under control and it is safe to return, Love Island All Stars Season 3 is expected to pick up where it left off — just a little later than planned.
