Netflix Reveals Release Date and Cast for Best of the Best

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan Leads Netflix’s New Bollywood Dance Comedy

Netflix has officially announced the release date for its upcoming dance comedy film Best of the Best.

According to Netflix Tudum, the movie will begin streaming worldwide on September 18, 2026. The project brings together a large ensemble cast led by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Priyanka Kedia, and Hasan Minhaj.

The film is expected to blend comedy, friendship, and Bollywood dance culture into a college-based coming-of-age story.

What Is ‘Best of the Best’ About?

The movie follows two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, who join their college’s competitive Bollywood dance team.

Maya is played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, while Priyanka Kedia takes on the role of Anjali. As the two friends chase a national dance championship, they discover that the competition is far more intense and chaotic than expected.

Netflix describes the film as a celebration of Bollywood fusion dance, South Asian student culture, friendship, and the challenges of young adulthood.

Lena Khan Reunites With Maitreyi Ramakrishnan

The film is directed by Lena Khan, who previously worked with Ramakrishnan on several episodes of Never Have I Ever.

Khan also directed Flora & Ulysses before joining the project.

Hasan Minhaj and Prashanth Venkataramanujam co-wrote and produced the film under 186K Films. Production support also comes from Rideback, with Jonathan Eirich producing and Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer.
