Golden Bachelor Season 2 Finale: Mel Chooses Peg Over Cindy

Golden Bachelor Season 2 Finale

Mel Owens finds love with Peg Munson after emotional finale

A new golden couple has officially joined Bachelor Nation. The Golden Bachelor season 2 finale, which aired on November 12, was packed with emotions, heartbreak, and one big twist that even Mel Owens didn’t see coming.

The 66-year-old retired NFL player was ready to choose between his final two contestants, Cindy Cullers and Peg Munson. However, the decision was unexpectedly taken out of his hands when Cindy decided to walk away before the final rose ceremony.

“I gave him every opportunity to say, ‘Just be patient with me, I’m falling for you,’” Cindy explained during the episode. “But he couldn’t go there. He said, ‘Wait for two years.’ If you meet someone who’s right for you, that’s your time to commit.”

Peg Wins Mel’s Heart — But Not an Engagement Ring

With Cindy out of the picture, Mel turned to Peg, 62, to express how much she meant to him. But instead of an engagement ring, Mel gave Peg a diamond ring symbolizing commitment and understanding.

“This represents our commitment to love,” Mel told her tenderly. “To give us time to figure out what our future holds.”

Peg agreed wholeheartedly, saying, “I met my match, and I know that you definitely are the man that I can trust.”

Although Mel wasn’t ready for engagement, he made it clear he was serious about their future. “Today is about fully committing to Peg and our future together,” he said in his confessional. “I’m ready.”

The moment marked a heartfelt ending for a journey that wasn’t always smooth. Mel admitted his relationship with Cindy was easy and open, while Peg was harder to read at first. But her high energy and strength eventually won him over.

A Season Filled With Lessons and Redemption

Before the season even began, Mel sparked controversy when he jokingly told producers not to cast women over 60. The comment drew criticism, leading him to publicly apologize during the premiere.

“It was insensitive and unfair,” Mel said while raising a toast. “It’s truly a privilege for me to be the Golden Bachelor. Age is really just a number, and spirit has no age.”

Peg and Mel may not be engaged, but they’ve chosen something equally meaningful: a real connection built on trust, laughter, and time.
