Sheinelle Jones Breaks Silence After Husband’s Death

NBC’s Today show co-host Sheinelle Jones has spoken out following the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh. Uche passed away at age 45 after bravely fighting glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer.

Sheinelle shared a short, emotional message on Instagram, saying:

Today Show Family Shares the News with Love

The news was announced on-air on May 23, 2025, by Sheinelle’s fellow Today show hosts — Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Carson Daly, Dylan Dreyer, and Jenna Bush Hager.

Savannah Guthrie called Uche “an incredible person” and “the perfect partner in life” for Sheinelle. Everyone on the Today team expressed deep sadness and support for Sheinelle and her three children.

Craig Melvin, one of Sheinelle’s closest friends, remembered Uche as a dedicated father. He said,
“He adored those children more than anything… he never missed a soccer match, concert, or recital. He was that kind of dad.”

 

 

 

Uche Ojeh: A Devoted Husband and Proud Father

Sheinelle and Uche’s love story began at Northwestern University. They were married for 17 years and had three children together: Kayin, 15, and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche.

Uche was admired not just for his devotion to his family, but also for his warmth, humility, and pride in his Nigerian heritage. Friends and colleagues described him as someone who left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Sheinelle’s Strength and Grace

During her husband’s illness, Sheinelle continued to work and support her children. Her strength has been recognized by her Today colleagues and fans alike.
