In IPL 2023, there will be competition between 12-12 players, not 11, know what is the new impact player rule?
After the 16th season, the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) is returning to India once again from UAE. This year Indian fans will once again be able to see their favorite teams playing in their home stadium. Although many more new things will be seen in IPL 2023, one of which is the Impact Player rule to be implemented in the tournament.
The BCCI first implemented this rule in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where the results were very positive. In this IPL, the fight will not be between 11-11 players, but the 12th player will also get a chance to show his skills.
How will the new Impact Player rule work?
After the toss, teams can name five substitute players with the playing XI, but the real work will be to use the impact player properly. Teams can use the IP before the start of the 14th over of the innings. If the teams are unable to use IP in the first innings, then they will have the option of replacing that player.
How will the impact player rule be used in the IPL?
If some teams feel that the bowlers they have are not fit to bowl in the death overs, they can use IP players. Even during batting, teams can use big hitters in the last over. With the help of this rule, teams can choose three foreign players in the playing XI and bring the fourth as an impact player.
The impact player rule will allow teams to make the most of their specialist bowlers and batsmen. Along with this, there will be some relief from the rule of keeping only three foreign players in the playing eleven.
