Sam Curran of Punjab Kings (PBKS) made his captaincy debut in the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) on Saturday. In the match against Lucknow Supergiants, Shikhar Dhawan did not play due to injury, in such a situation, this all-rounder got a chance to lead the team. Curran took 3 wickets for 31 runs while performing well in bowling and created history. However, he missed out on the hat trick. This is the best performance as a bowler in the first match as captain in IPL.

Sourav Ganguly took 2 wickets for 21 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first season of IPL. This was the first match in IPL history.
