Masters of the Universe Finally Arrives in Theaters
After years of delays and development changes, Masters of the Universe is finally set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
The live-action reboot recently premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on May 18, and early reactions suggest the film delivers a mix of classic 1980s sci-fi fun, fantasy action, and emotional storytelling.
According to reports from Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes, the movie balances nostalgia with a fresh modern style designed for longtime fans and new audiences.

The film introduces a new twist to the classic He-Man story.
Directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler, the story begins with young Prince Adam crash-landing on Earth after losing his magical Power Sword.
Without his memories, Adam grows up on Earth for 15 years before finally rediscovering the sword. The discovery sends him back to Eternia, where he learns the planet has fallen under the rule of Skeletor.
Adam must then embrace his destiny as He-Man, master the sword’s powers, and unite allies to save his home world.

Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam and He-Man. Reports say the actor underwent a major physical transformation for the role while also bringing humor and emotion to the character.
Jared Leto takes on the role of Skeletor, the film’s main villain.

The supporting cast also includes Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, and Charlotte Riley.
According to entertainment reports, Travis Knight chose to fully embrace the colorful and over-the-top style of the original Mattel toy line instead of making the movie too dark or serious.
The visual tone has already been compared to movies like Thor: Ragnarok and Flash Gordon because of its bright sci-fi fantasy atmosphere.
The film is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios, and industry rumors suggest it may launch a larger fantasy universe.
According to reports, a live-action She-Ra project is already in development for Prime Video with director Nicole Kassell attached.
Longtime fans should also keep an eye out for a possible surprise appearance from Dolph Lundgren, who famously played He-Man in the 1987 live-action adaptation.
Reports earlier this year hinted that Lundgren could appear in a cameo role in the new movie.
