Donald Trump's Announcement
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed plans to issue an executive order on Monday to postpone the ban on TikTok. The ban, which made the app inaccessible to millions of users in the United States, went into effect over the weekend due to a federal law passed in 2024. This law requires TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to sell its U.S. operations or face a shutdown.
Trump’s Statement on Truth Social
In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged tech companies to keep TikTok running and stated:
"I will sign an executive order on Monday to extend the timeline before the law's restrictions are enforced."
He assured that companies aiding TikTok's continued operation during this time would not face legal issues.

Proposed U.S. Ownership in TikTok
Trump also suggested a plan for the United States to acquire a 50% ownership stake in TikTok. This move is intended to:
· Protect national security.
· Allow TikTok to keep operating.
Trump believes this joint venture could significantly increase TikTok's value, potentially reaching hundreds of billions or even trillions of dollars.
Challenges Ahead
The executive order might face legal challenges, and it’s unclear if it will protect companies from penalties for law violations. Meanwhile, millions of users cannot access TikTok, as app stores have already removed it to comply with the legislation.
