Cara Stadler Crowned First Winner of America’s Culinary Cup

America's Culinary Cup officially crowned its first champion during a two-hour finale that aired on CBS on May 13, 2026.

Cara Stadler defeated finalists Chris Morgan and Matt Peters to win the competition and take home the $1 million grand prize.

The finale came down to an incredibly close finish between Cara and Chris, with Cara earning 278 points compared to Chris’ 274 points.

 

 

 

The Finale Featured Two High-Pressure Challenges

The episode began with the final “Culinary Commandment” challenge focused on innovation.

Each chef had two hours to reinvent a famous dish:

  • Cara reimagined Eric Ripert’s salmon caviar dish
  • Chris worked on Suzanne Goin’s braised beef cheek
  • Matt Peters recreated Daniela Soto-Innes’ lamb belly barbacoa

At the end of the round, Cara led with 113 points, Chris followed with 108, and Matt finished with 103 points, leading to his elimination.

According to CBS, the final challenge required the remaining chefs to prepare a three-course tasting menu inspired by their past, present, and future.

 

 

 

Cara’s Final Menu Helped Secure the Victory

Cara’s final dishes included:

  • A dim sum trio
  • Lobster moilee
  • A dessert called “Tea Time”

Meanwhile, Chris Morgan prepared:

  • Pistachio soup with crab
  • Merguez-stuffed quail with chutney
  • Beef short rib pavé

The judges ultimately awarded Cara the highest overall score, giving her the Season 1 title.

Cara Competed While Pregnant

One of the biggest talking points throughout the season was the fact that Cara competed while pregnant.

After her win, Cara became emotional and said she could not believe she had finally won after finishing second in many moments during the competition.

Before the finale aired, she also spoke with CBS 13 News about her culinary background and her experience filming the show while pregnant.

Cara explained that her cooking style blends Chinese, French, and broader Asian influences shaped by years of living in Paris, Singapore, and China.

She also shared that staying calm during the competition became her personal goal because she did not want stress to affect her baby.

Chris Morgan Reacts to Narrow Loss

Chris Morgan admitted he was heartbroken after losing by only four points.
